On topic: just saw a very interesting game today: Stationfall .
It won't make me use Kickstarter, but it might be worth checking out for some people here ( Space-Biff loved it ).

But secondly, I actually looked to using Lyft this morning to pick up my car at the shop, which is about four miles away. 33 frikkin' dollars! I just checked right now at 11am and I'm watching the price change from minute to minute between $16 and $47. And that's for the Wait and Save option. So it isn't the cheapest way to travel anymore.

Mate, every person in the world has their own likes - I say the same thing about Warhammer but that seems to have done reasonably well in the last thirty years.Virabhadra wrote: How are there multiple CCGs on Kickstarter that, with no IP attached and nary a BGG entry, are pushing $1,000,000? I mean, who is the market for that? I am genuinely curious.

There are hundreds of millions of consumers in the countries that usually back board/card games on kickstarter (check the Communities tab to see the countries) and I'm sure with massive genres like TCG/CCG there will easily be enough people to back them for $50 - $100. You should be more surprised about the number of large tabletop projects costing multi-hundreds of dollars being massively supported - but the same argument still applies.
And no different to me asking how the hell do phone manufacturers get millions and millions of people to upgrade their exceptionally good phone for a new model with two extra features .

More surprisingly, though, a brand new CCG, Flesh and Blood, released at the same time and soon started trading $5000 sealed boxes. Investors that were priced out of the blue chip games were now looking for the new Magic. MetaZoo continued the trend and now we have these latest releases. You can see the play for collectors with ‘Day Zero’ print runs and promises for detailed reports on physical printings.

Yes, everything you love now has some kind of pyramid scheme attached to it. It's the fashion of the year.
