Monolith took an interesting approach. While I applauded their sincerity, it was the campaign itself that sunk the ship.
It sucked. A confusing, bloated mess that hardly any one asked for - or wanted.
I'm an unabashed fan and supporter of Monolith. I own a lot of their games and enjoy most of them. I bet I would enjoy them more if I had regular skirmish players. Alas, I spend most of my time with their titles by painting the plastic crack. The models are consistently stunning.
Anyway...
I, and seemingly a lot of other people, read through the "Beyond the Monolith" KS, and said, "WTF?" We wanted more Conan, and 'Beyond the Monolith" was not that.
So after they pulled the plug on "Beyond the Monolith", Monolith spent six weeks retooling the campaign into a genuine Conan project. And it funded. Lickety split.
