Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile is the latest game in the four letter series. Root, Fort, and Vast have all received critical acclaim and spawned a large following. Can Oath keep up the trend? Or does it fail to live up to these past achievements?

Wow, what a fantastic read! Loved this! This game would never work with my game group which is into dry Euros (which I love too). But I think I would enjoy this game with the right group of gamers.

Excellent review, But is Oath fun? Root was clever and elegant but I can't say it was fun . Both Root and Oath seem too procedural to be fun.. Reading the rules and watching the video I'm worried about Oath fall into the category of modern art, wow that is very elegant and interesting but I don't want to hang that up in my house.

@KingPut
It's not the MOST fun game... I think it's probably too slow for it to be considered really fun. Because you do spend the first 4 turns building up.
It's still super enjoyable though. Especially when players are falling over each other to be top dog.
But when I think fun, I think of games like Camel Up, and Dune: Imperium where there's constant action and surprises each turn.

I played my first game of Oath last night and I’m looking forward to play again next week. It’s a sandbox thinkie meta gaming dudes on map fun game. Just ignore the last sentence. I think I just wanted string a bunch of buzz words together.
