Warning: Spoiler!Once he got the password he effectively became a superhero, so why was he still faking attacks and planning on being a pretend hero?

Next we watched The Big Short. It's based on Michael Lewis' nonfiction title, with some of the names changed for reasons. We follow three groups of investors as they foresee the upcoming housing bubble collapse, and prove themselves right when the bubble bursts. Like Margin Call, it has another top-notch cast.
In the middle of the finance fest, I started watching The Last Seduction. I saw it at the local independent cinema when it came out way back when. But I couldn't stand the honking jazz soundtrack at the very start of the movie, and had to bail out about 15 minutes into it. Guess that makes me a cultureless hick.

With trepidation, I watched Prometheus. I bounced off of it in the theater, because there were so many plot holes. This time, I watched Prometheus while taking a break from a solo play of Blackstone Fortress. And that made for a better viewing experience, leaving me in a more receptive mindset. Though there were obvious references to sci-fi/horror classic Alien, Prometheus is an above-average horror movie paired with a below-average science fiction movie. The movie is visually wonderful, the story is sloppy, and a great cast is somewhat wasted on this disappointing effort. Prometheus could have been a great movie with one or two more rounds of editing the script.

I watched Alien: Covenant this weekend, and your description fits it too, except that IMO Prometheus has a better cast. A:C might be a smidge better than Prometheus, but not by much. Ridley Scott's too good at his job to make a bad movie, but there was a lot of stupid going on.

I am finally ready to watch Alien: Covenant, if and when t conveniently presents itself for my viewing.

Top Gun still totally holds up. Yeah it is a dodgy story and jingoistic as all get out, but it is saved by unabashed enthusiasm and a stellar cast. Plus NO CGI! Ahh, the days of chase planes following real F-14s and some sketchy model work

Freaks is basically a tv pilot as a film. German I think, about a meek waitress who turns out to be a super, just doped up by a shadowy government org that tries to control supers. Nothing very original, we've seen it all in The boys, The Old Guard, and a dozen other stories. But the lead actress does a good job and it handles a transition from wannabe superhero to supervillain quite well. Still, it is limited in scope and ends with such an obvious series hook that I gotta think netflix will make more.
Unknown Origins (maybe Secret Origins, there were several translations from native spanish) is basically Se7en crossed with Unbreakable with a heavy dose of Marvel (at least as close as you can get without having Disney lawyers destroy you). It is NO WHERE near as funny as the trailer would suggest, so tonally it struggles a bit. But it is a decent flick that does a pretty good job of mashing up genres and it has a ton of pop culture easter eggs.
Both of these foreign films serve as an interesting spotlight into what others think of the uniquely american superhero genre. And as low budget films they do a lot with what they have compared to a lavish $200 million american film.

It is not like Train to Busan.

TRAIN TO BUSAN is pretty good. Fast zombies, claustrophobia. Gets really sentimental, which is almost jarring.

Plus I think it is going free on D+ in a few months anyway, so what is the rush?
