I just finished
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!
It was much better than the version they made me read in school. Zombie fans have been complaining that there isn't enough Zombie Action in the book. Jane Austin fans have just been complaining. I, however, thought it was great fun.
Now I am reading H. P. Lovecraft: Tales . My old paper backs were yellow and near to crumbling. The Man surprised me with this wonderful hardback, which contains 22 stories (850 pages), as well as a chronology of Lovecraft's life and extensive notes. Many Lovecraft collections contain versions of the stories that were edited for publication in magazines. Where possible, this collection contains the "definitive" versions of the stories, mostly from Brown University's Hay librery.

I'm about a third through the Centenary edition of REH's Conan, read The Devil in Iron yesterday.
Besides that a few books in French as well.
Earlier in August, Joe Abercrombie's new stand-alone-part-sequel to his other trilogy, Best Served Cold. Very entertaining, funny, gory, dismal, it's obviously about revenge so you get what you expect.

Since I don't watch tv anymore, I've had more time for reading lately. Usually I read one non-fiction book (slowly) per month, plus several fiction books. I've been busy lately, though, so I'm just halfway through one book at the moment:
The Devil Wives of Li Fong, by E. Hoffman Price. It's a light, fun read, and is based on the same Chinese folk tale as an old HK movie called Green Snake.

I finished a book a while back called "Aftermath" (but I forget the secondary part of the title). The book is about the author spending about a year with this company called Aftermath who specializes in bio-clean-up after violent crimes or natural deaths with a prolonged decomp time.
It was an interesting read mainly because up until the 80's or so it was up to the families of the dead to clean up. And the business side of me found it facinating how two guys and their kind act of offering help to a neighbor clean up after a violent death identified an industry that was untapped and unidentified at the time. I also liked how they covered the history of the company and how they established the industry standards. I wouldn't recommend this to everyone though...Perhaps people with a morbid side who has an interest in business.

(re: biocleanup stuff)
About 9 years ago I read a cover story in one of the free weekly rags in San Francisco about a firm like that. The guy had mentioned that he had to develop his own cleaning materials in a lot of cases. I wonder if it's a parallel company or the same guy.
The weekly piece was pretty good, I'll have to go find the book.

I'm about halfway through Infinite Jest. I got inspired to read it again because of the Infinite Summer thing. I read it 4-5 years ago and thought it was pretty good, but this time through I am absolutely loving it. I think David Foster Wallace is my favourite writer.

I started reading Jonathon Strange & Mr. Norrell last month. I'm about 150 pages in and things are still just getting started. So far it's OK, but like I said, it may be too early to tell.
Watching Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince made me pick up Deathly Hallows for another read.
I also recently read book #123 in the Black Company series "The Glittering Stones." I liked the first books better when Croaker was the protagonist. But the series still makes for some good, light reading.
