Just to be clear I think Kickstarter's attempts to squash an employee union absolutely stink, and whomever in management decided to double down on that is an idiot, considering the whole concept of the platform is to help struggling creatives.

That said, these publishers are just trying to make cool games, I'm not going to blame them for KS's failings.

I've gone up and down on my opinions of KS stuff for ages, but after seeing the amount of stuff out there lately, I realised that, as I said, it would have blown my tiny mind when I was younger. Old big box Games Workshop games had plenty of failings as games as well, but that didn't stop them exploding our imaginations and giving us endless hours of enjoyment. I decided to put my natural cynicism aside and just revel in the fact that you can get hold of all these amazing, imaginative toy boxes.

I've backed a LOT of stuff on KS and only had a couple of projects fail on me. You have to be a bit discerning, patient, and prepared for the fact that things can go wrong. That said, I have some pretty amazing games - Conan, Claustrophobia 1643, Joan of Arc, Smog, Blood Rage, Cthulhu Wars, Wrath of Kings - because of it (and even the average ones I still play occasionally).

Like everything, there's good and bad about the whole concept. This time I decided to focus on the good.

Oh, and sorry if I shout a bit sometimes, I'm making up for the failings of my camera's mic. I've bought some new audio equipment recently and the shouting wll subside (except when I get very excited).

Great to be here on TWBG!

Universal Head is a trusted voice, so I can let him put all the work into being discerning & patient and then check out his opinions on these big boxes of toys.

It's so great to have him here sharing those opinions with us. Action Points is just a sliver of his work. Check out his YouTube channel and website for his other videos, player aids, and stuff. Also, he has a forum on his site which has more people on it who live on the other side of the globe, which is great if you are an insomniac and want to talk with games with people when most normal folks in the US are asleep.

I'm near Nelson, southernman. I'm originally from Sydney, but really enjoy the slower lifestyle here and I'm a dual citizen now.

Ahhh - should have know you laid-back types would be around Nelson, great area to chill out and live in ... and nearly as much sun as Sydney :cheer: .
I'm from further down in (very) rural Otago but live in the UK with family these days - so extremely jealous of all those with NZ-based lives (and annoyed that I actually know a really good painter now and he's in my own country ... and I'm not).
I'm sure you've been made very welcome and hope it's a great life for you.

I wanted that old Joan of Arc game because of the minis, but didn't buy in. I was glad I didn't, due to the lengthy delays that ensued.

Now I see it's back on KS with version 1.5 so I took another look. Full buy-in is $889. uhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well, 8 months late isn't great for Kickstarter, but it's certainly better than some, and it was a huge project. And you certainly don't have to get EVERYTHING.
