There's another expansion already out in Germany as well. Possibly a standalone that can expand the base game? I forget exactly, but I'll definitely but it once it hits America either way.

Hearkening back to this, if we're looking on our respective shelves and ID'ing all the games that don't have expansions, I have a ton; most of them being from Columbia or GMT which, as historical sims, don't have expansions by their very nature (and because it's usually not a Columbia thing for their block games.) But there's also stuff like Confusion, New Angeles, and Ultimate Warriorz, which were all likely not popular enough to have expansions but also, in the case of Confusion, not having much room for one to change much of anything (It's an abstract.)

A contrast would be: What games do you own that have the MOST expansions? For me, it's either Runebound 2nd Ed. or Cthulhu Wars, but I haven't counted.

If you want to count mythos packs for the Arkham Horror LCG that's easily the one I have with the most. After that, I've got all of Arkham Horror 2e (well not the promos but all the boxes expansions). After that it drops down to mostly games with one or none, a few outliers here and there with two or three.

I think I have 9 expansions (if you count promo characters) for King of Tokyo

I have like 200 X-Wing ships. Does this count?

Hey, here's some more I thought of.

- Modern Art
- Hoity Toity
- Merchant of Venus (alternate versions, but no actual expansions)
- Tobago
- Zimby Mojo (I love this game, and I can assure you it needs no expansion at all.)

Lots of great one off German games out there, actually.

avoiding wargames were expansions are more common but still not quite the norm;

ascending empires - tanked on sale i think, so never got expansions, didn't need them anyhow, ace game

tichu - abstract card game, do any abstracts get expansions?

18xx - no particular favourite, but i've not come across expansions for any 18xx games

Horus Heresy - massive flop on sale, great game imo, no expansions but probably would have had some if it had been a hit.

Brass - I don't think Martin Wallace is really into expansions

Brass has a 2p map expansion. Also Marin Wallace designed Runebound and Age of Steam (117 listed expansions on bgg!) so I don't know that he's entirely anti expansion.

Also plenty of 18xx games have additional stuff. 1829 has 6 expansions that add new tiles and rules just for a random example. Now whether any rational people actually use 18xx expansions is a different question, but they do exist.

Ah Pook, yeh that pretty much destroys my arguements, i was thinking more of Wallaces Tree frog games but yes he has published stuff with tons of expansions. I think with tree frog he was nervous of risk, so he never did reprints in case they did not sell until KS took the risk off him. Probably the same reason why his treefrog published games did not have expansions.

18xx, the 1825 is an obvious call. I've not seen many expansion tiles but it doesn't surprise me that they exist.
