If, like me, you’re a fan of Uwe Rosenberg, you...

Buckle up folks, we’re going hop-growing in Bavaria! Hallertau is the longest continuous hop-producing region in the world, and in this medium-heavy game from Uwe Rosenberg, we’re going back to 1850 to develop our Bavarian villages and try to be the biggest and best.

I've played this a few more times since writing the review, and hit the BGG forums for a few more answers (I try to completely avoid forums about most games while I'm writing a review so I don't get involuntarily influenced).

It seem like finishing the community centre is far from the only way to play the game, and that playing to complete cards is just as effective. I keep thinking about the game as soon as I finish playing it now, it's definitely a keeper for me.

I've got a trade offer out for this, Hopefully I'll have it pretty soon. I've read people complaining about the cards being swingy, but I think that would be fine solo at least.

Edit: @adamr what are your favorite Rosenberg games, out of curiosity?

I just need to interrupt this discussion of Hallertau with a brief announcement.

Nusfjord is probably my favourite of his. I love the game to bits, the theme is really nice, it's a relaxing game to play (for me at least), and as I've mentioned elsewhere, the three-game solo campaign in the rule book is great.

I really like A Feast For Odin too. I don't have my own copy, unfortunately, but it's like Maximum Uwe. Tons of places for workers, resource management and conversion, polyomino placement, a hundred different things to do.

I've got a real soft spot for Patchwork too :)
