...

Cosmic Encounter is one of the greatest games ever published.  That's it, that's the take away of this episode.  But hey, if you want to hear why that is, how was WBC and GenCon, or what Al's favorite dinosaur is, give this episode a listen.

Triceratops is my favorite too.

I laughed out loud several times while listening to this.

One of the best things about growing up in DC.
With a bit of skill and balance, you could slide down his tail.

So I haven't listened to this podcast yet, but I have a great story about Uncle Beazley the Triceratops. When I was about six years old (in 1989) my parents drove us from Michigan all the way to DC to do some sightseeing. I was a normal six-year-old boy obsessed with dinosaurs, so the Natural History Museum was a highlight for me, and Uncle Beazley was part of that. There's a picture of my sister and I climbing all over it somewhere.

Years later, my wife and I went to DC on our honeymoon (yes really, it was awesome) and we went back to the Natural History Museum. I was really excited to see Uncle Beazley again, just for nostalgia's sake. But when we got there, it turns out he wasn't actually there anymore. I went all over the place trying to find the statue, even asking one of the workers if it was still there. But I guess the twenty-one-year-old we asked didn't remember it in the first place. So I left disappointed.

A couple days later we went to the National Zoo, and we turn a corner and what do I see but Uncle Beazley! I had no idea they had moved him. So there's also a picture of me in 2008 posing in front of that bronze triceratops. It was one of those unexpected moments that I didn't think would happen, but it made me really happy.

I have not seen it since 198-whatever, but I wonder to what extent The Land Before Time impacts peoples favourite dinosaur. (Mine was the trike, as well). Pterodactyls were up there though.

These days I like me some mammalian megafauna.

Looks like someone could get gored on one of those horns. Definitely frowned upon in modern “kid space” design
