For a spot of good news / silver lining, I have a positive tale from Kickstarter!
Among my many hats, I'm a co-producer for a theater company. We're a small outfit that stage two - three productions a year. Two - three before the pandemic.
Turns out, you can't sign venue and vendor contracts when our world is in this mess. Thankfully, none of us are solely reliant on the performing arts for income. We've kept ourselves healthy and head-down while we weather the storm of dark theaters.
We've kept ourselves busy. We decided the time was right to make a book of our exploits. Our most popular show celebrated its tenth year in 2020. And we professionally documented it every step of the way. Enough cast and crew thought it would be fun to have a retrospective, and I thought a few of our theater patrons would like it too.
Before I knew it, I was the manager for our book's crowd funding effort.
It closes this evening, and we're thrilled with the tally. It's chump change when compared to the fantastic-plastic games, niche tech gadgets, and potato salads of Kickstarter. But we're getting funding, we're making a book, we're keeping our fans engaged, and honestly? I've had a lot of fun with this Kickstarter. I know a lot of the criticism and praise I've read here over the years influenced my approach and writing. I'm heading over to the page now and work on some last minute updates. If any of you F:ATties want to waste away 2-3 minutes, please take a peek.

This is the kind of thing that Kickstarter was conceived for. Congrats on your funding.

You should add several boxes of beautifully sculpted miniatures as stretch goals.
Well done!
