@Josh

Thanks for doing the sleuthing re: twitter account that says it is indeed a board game.

@Gary

I still have my old copy from when I was young. I just think it would be awesome for it to be available for kids today. I am an advocate of games that a middle school kid can see on the store shelf, and say “Wow, I want that.” And be able to take it home, figure it out and teach it and play it with their friends, without any gamer parent hand holding.

Not only that, but Restoration has Mike Gray on their team. That dude worked at MB, and Heroquest at the time. Supposedly, in his basement, he has old school unpublished Heroquest scenarios.*

And just for context:
I played HQ as a teenager. My buddies knew exactly what it was, and had no problem shifting from our Call of Cthulhu / GURPS Fantasy / Shadowrun / and RIFTS campaigns into a light weight dungeon romp.

In grade school, we made a bunch of our own characters for Dungeon!

Anyway, we played it all. At least what was available in the States. I picked up Advanced Heroquest in my senior year, paying an arm and leg (for the time). Shortly thereafter, our gaming group parted ways.

I still own all of it. In the twenty seven years since, I rounded off my collection. I picked up:
Against the Ogre Horde
Wizards of Morcar
Advanced Heroquest's Terror in the Dark
and
the three SC choose your own adventure books

Somehow this game totally passed me by. I hit a heavy RPG and pc game phase in HS and college when it seems to have been published. Very interested in it now.

My wife has a copy of the original. I will still opt for the original Warhammer Quest over Hero Quest. Other than nostalgia, is there really a space for this iteration?

Witch Hunter and Blade Dancer were my favorites. I still remember getting to the final boss and the GM kept adding so many enemies, they couldn't all fit.

Then, the bloodbath commenced. Good times.

Yeah I loved the Witch Hunter too. I remember having to special order some of the expansion characters through my hobby shop and being impatient waiting for them to arrive.

Restoration tweeted that they have nothing to do with this, nor do they have plans to make a Hero Quest game.

Me and my brothers wore our copy out, including witch and dwarf expacs in middle school to high school. We passed it back and forth during our college years until it eventually disintegrated under my youngest brother's watch.

Nostalgia is strong here, but there's been so many years and so games are so much better now, so......

I would love to play this with my brothers and nephews. Outside of that I don't have an audience that I wouldn't rather play Gloomhaven.

People who played it when they were in middle school are the right age to have middle schoolers of their own. They will buy it for their kids.

I have huge nostalgia for Heroquest, it basically got me into the more thematic side of boardgaming. Saying that this game would need a serious update to compete with modern boardgaming. I played it again recently via TTS and it has not held up well.

I was trying to think of what would make HeroQuest "marketable" today... I will not be surprised if this game has three modes:

1. Classic one vs. many
2. One vs. many with some rules freshening, ditching roll to move, etc.
3. Full co-op using an App

But only if people demand it.
