All of them. I am resisting all the purchases.

I celebrated our last college tuition payment by finally purchasing a headboard for my bed and a table for the kitchen. Two weeks later the Spawn's laptop died, and two weeks after that her transmission blew.

The good news is that the clothes dryer, which blew in the week in between the laptop and the transmission catastrophes only cost $80 to repair.

Like Uba: All of them. Still no job. Still no money. Still owe in many places, so no room to buy games which largely don't get played, anyway. Starting to consider selling a number of things but, last time I tried that, nothing sold and I ended up trading most of it for... more games.

War of Whispers does look cool, though.

Yeah, they did really sell it, and I'm possibly interested even if it puts money in Dan Yarrington's pockets.

I recommend going and reading Charlie Theel's take on it for a different perspective: playerelimination.com/2020/01/09/weaponi...e-a-war-of-whispers/

I looked at Rocketmen earlier, opted to wait until I see it in real life. Wallace and Kickstarter is like alcohol and firearms. What could possibly go wrong?

After reading what Charlie said, I still think it would fit well with my main group. It might not have the crunch that i would appreciate but the quick playtime and smoothed edges would work perfectly for my mostly casual group.

I've been steadily clearing my shelves of their toads, and the work that this has taken (for a really negligible payoff aside from the faint Xmas-y dopamine rush that I get while bundling up a game for someone who might actually play it) has made me very resistant to filling any of the vacant space that I've made. I have what I like now, and I haven't been intrigued enough by what I'm seeing in the production queue to completely surmount this aversion that's built up over the past few months. Rather than toads, I feel like I've been sending off shelf ravens, quoting "nevermore," while feeling this faint anxiety that I perhaps need to be spending my remaining time on this planet without the constant yoke of acquiring "all the things" and cataloging my enthusiasm for them.

I vacilate between disgust at all my games and being totally fine with it but not precious about them on like a two year cycle. Right now I think it's fine but if my house burned down I wouldn't be running in there for my games or anything. It helps that my partner has a billion hobbies with equipment and I have a house so there isn't any social or extreme space pressure to get rid of anything.

I have started sending most of my games off when they don't feel essential to me, which has significantly slowed but not stopped the bloat.

I'm both proud and sad that I will be celebrating getting through the entire first month of the year without buying any board games. Not sad that I didn't buy any... sad that it's something I had to even think about.

It helps that I haven't even held any game nights. My Root expansion has shipped so that will change soon. But at least I already bought that!

Last year, I went spendaholic on clearance items at MM. Some will hit the table this Sunday. Still others were played on NYE and are keepers. Only two so far were crap, and I traded one off and the other is up for trade/was going to be a SS gift last year but was thwarted.

This year will be more reserved. Can I afford new games? Yes. But can I spend like I did last year? Nope, not unless I don't take a vacation with my family, and they come first.

The KS for the It's a Wonderful World expansion is tempting, but pretty sure I will be able to get it retail as well. And I'm not so crazy about expansions these days anyhow.

I really wanted to get a bottle of Makers Mark on the way home today but then I didn’t.

I’m glad booze isn’t Kickstarted.
