Take to the stars and become a living legend in Star Wars: Outer Rim, a game of bounty hunters, mercenaries, and smugglers for 1-4 players!

In Outer Rim, you take on the role of an underworld denizen, setting out to make your mark on the galaxy. You'll travel the outer rim in your personal ship, hire legendary Star Wars characters to join your crew, and try to become the most famous (or infamous) outlaw in the galaxy!

But it won't be easy, the warring factions of the galaxy roam the outer rim, hunting down the scum that have proven to be a thorn in their side, and other scoundrels looking to make their mark see you as the perfect target to bring down to bolster their own reputation. Do you have what it takes to survive in the outer rim and become a living legend?

I already have Firefly, which checks all the same boxes with a different IP.

I was thinking that it sounded kind of like Firefly too.

Worth it for x-wing worlds dice.

Yes, I played it multiple times in preparation for my review at Ars. I'd say it's bland and unexciting. Can't ever fathom choosing it over Xia, M&M, Western Legends, or Dungeon Degenerates.

I dislike almost all of those, should be interesting to see if it lands with me.

This was a very good review, btw.

Yeah, can't see choosing this over Xia or Merchants and Marauders on first glance. Still curious about Dungeon Degenerates.

Again, first glance, but it has the first impression of having too little stuff until expansions, which I think is a big negative in this overly generous genre. Merchants gets around this in that it doesn't rely as much on novel cards but instead leans super heavy on player interactions, so it doesn't need as many thick decks and stuff. Firefly isn't my favorite but it was generous in its base game stacks, which was critical for a game of that nature.

There is an obvious joke to make while playing Settlers of Catan, regarding wood for sheep. Once a player had heard the joke, some of the entertainment value disappears from the game. The joke to be made while playing Star Wars: Outer Rim is even more obvious, and doesn't even require familiarity with the game.

Sadly this didn't prevent people from selling novelty t-shirts containing the joke.
